What’s in a Name? Civil Rights Hero Unhappy about Cable Series Using Her Name

Diane Nash,  74, says the USA Cable television network stole her name. Maxine Walker Giddings, 72, recently emailed me a link to a letter Nash posted on July 26. Both women are civil rights heroes. Charles R. Drew Academy: For Teens Interested in Medicine, Dentistry, Research

  Good news 10th to 12th-graders of color who like medicine, dentistry or medical science. Cookies 4 College Update

I'm Channon Conner, and I attend Health Careers campus at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, where I started a project called Cookies 4 College. I came up with up the project to sell cookies to pay for college when I discovered I was applying for scholarships and grants and not receiving any. I began to worry about how I would pay for college, especially since I'm going.

African-American Museum Seeking Donations

Did you know we have an African-American museum right here in Hough? The African American Museum of Cleveland is one of the oldest independently run and operated museums in the country and it’s right here in our neighborhood, but its doors are closed because of lack of funding. East Tech Student Raises GPA, Gets College Scholarship

East Tech High School senior Jimmy Horton signed a letter of intent May 17 to continue his education and play basketball at Ohio Christian University.  OCU is a private Christian university just south of Columbus. Horton helped lead East Tech to a 16-7 record under the direction of head coach Brett Moore.  The Golden Scarabs finished the season ranked 23rd in a poll by The Plain Dealer.
